I have been tearing my hair out to overcome this same problem. I deleted every file I could find that appeared related to Apowersoft and still it appeared in Sound preferences and in Audio MIDI.
Then I did a search with FindAnyFile, which seems able to probe corners of the Mac that Spotlight cannot reach, including invisible files. It discovered no fewer than fourteen scattered files with Apowersoft in the name. It enabled me to trash them all, then I emptied the Trash and restarted the Mac. Finally Success! This pestilence has gone.

Uninstall Apowersoft audio device on the MacUninstall Apowersoft audio device on the Mac2018-07-18 04:51 #20The program never worked for me so I deleted it but it still shows up as an audio device and I went into finder and did /Library/Extensions but Apowersoft_AudioDevice.kext wasn’t there. I’ve restarted my laptop a bunch and there is no way for me to delete it and it’s getting really annoying having to change all my audio settings every time I try to use my mic and listen to stuff and it keeps defaulting to the input and output device. Uninstall Apowersoft audio device on the MacUninstall Apowersoft audio device on the MacUninstall Apowersoft audio device on the MacUninstall Apowersoft audio device on the Mac2019-07-27 02:25 #24TWO STEP SOLUTION – PROBLEM SOLVED ?!
Firstly, finder could not find apowersoft in my mac because it was deleted even though it showed up in the Sound settings from the Systems Preferences. It was also removed from the Library/Audio/Plug-ins folder.
THIS WAS MY SOLUTION ?! And it worked for me.
1) I went to Applications, Utilities, Audio MIDI Setup, and saw that apowersoft was checked for sound input, but not sound output. So I changed the sound input to the mac’s internal microphone.
2) Then I reinstalled apowersoft and it was automatically removed from the Sound settings from the Systems Preferences. Then I deleted apowersoft. The reason why I reinstalled the program was to see if the program came with an uninstall feature, which it did not.
This is where I went to download it before deleting it. https://apowersoft-audio-recorder-for-mac.en.softonic.com/mac/download
